They did discovered a fix which also resolved my issue. The fix is basically going to the gmail "Unlock CAPTCHA" page and entering your mail login.
If you starting having similar issue on your mail client where you cannot login and retrieve your mail please try this quick and easy fix. Here is the gmail help article on the error: "My client isn't accepting my username and password".
